BACKROUND
An 1887 treaty let the U.S. use the harbor.
The U.S. Was not involved in the war yet.
The Japanese goal was to destroy U.S. ships and planes.
Japan has wanted to fight for a while.
President Roosevelt Threatened to cut U.S. trade with japan.

The president threatened to stop commercial trade with japan.
Japan was pretty much asking for war.
Luckily, there were no aircraft carriers at Pearl Harbor that day.

The attack occured december 7th 1941
The first wave arrived at 7:50 a.m.
There were 183 Japanese planes in the first wave

Vice Adm. Chuichi Nagumo comanded the japanese fleet.
More than 2,300 military personel were killed.
