The book zia is about a girl who went to the mission Santa Barbra to find her aunt Karana . After a while zia and her brother mando try to get to the island karana is on but they get captured by white men. After escaping the white men they go back to the mission . Eventually over time karana is found and brought back to the mission where she dislikes and goes and lives at a cave. After becoming ill twice she eventually dies. Once karana dies zia returns to her village.
