I'm sure you know about the civil war. But do you know what things happened during the civil war?

We all know slavery happened during the civil war...

But there is more stuff to cover!

Let's start at the beginning. Slavery was in the south and north at the time. (Early 1800s)

The north stopped and outlawed slavery in the early 1800s

However, the south still kept slavery.

This was about more than 6 decades before the civil war started.

The civil war started in 1862.

Everybody thought that this war would be quick because the north had better gear.

However, the war lasted 4 years.

It finally ended on April 9 1865.

But sadly, on April 14th, 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.

The Underground Railroad was not actually a Railroad. It was just a trail for slaves to become free.

There were stations and conductors. Conductors are people who show the way to stations to free slaves.

When the civil war ended, the Underground Railroad freed 400,000 slaves. However, there were 4 million slaves left.
