PLACE VALUE

  • The value of a digit's place in a number

The answer to the place value question is 500.

WHOLE NUMBER

  • A positive number with no fractional or decimal part
  • What is the difference between 5 and 5/6?
The answer to the whole number question is that 5 is a whole number and 5/6 is a fraction, which is not a whole number.

PRIME nUMBER

  • A whole number whose only factors are one and itself
  • Is 67 a prime number?
The answer is yes.

DECIMAL

  • A number that contains a decimal point
  • What is 6.7 plus 9.867?
The answer is 16.567.

GREATEST COMMON FACTOR

  • A factor that is the largest of the common factors of two or more numbers
  • What is the greatest common factor of 21 and 12?
The answer is 3.

LEAST COMMON MULTIPLE

  • The smallest multiple that is common to two numbers
  • What is the least common multiple of 50 and 100?
The answer is 100.

COMMON FACTOR

  • Factors that are common to two or more numbers
  • What is a common factor between 62 and 98?
Answers of the common factor question may vary. One example answer is 2.

DIVIDEND

  • What you divide into equal groups to get a quotient
  • Which number in the following equation is the dividend? 32÷4 = 8.
The dividend is 32.

DIVISOR

  • The number of times the dividend gets divided into equal groups
  • What is the divisor in the following equation? 12 ÷ 2 = 6.
The answer to the divisor question is 2.

QUOTIENT

  • The answer to a division problem or what you get when you divide
  • What is the quotient of the equation, 90÷5?
The quotient of the equation is 18.
