Relative Dating: used to determine "oler" or "younger"
Absolute Dating: finding the actual or exact age of an object
Law of Superposition: The layer of rocks; the youngest layer is on top and the oldest on bottom.
Example of Fossil: Fossils are preserved remains or traces of once living things
What fossils can tell us about the climate: Climate can be something that determines where different species of plants and animals can live
What fossils can tell us about earth's landscape: Fossils can tell us that our world was once connected(Pangea). Scientists can infer this by looking at the fossils of all countries.
What fossils can tell us about how life has changed: The fossil record shows that there were many different species that were on Earth millions of years ago and are now extinct.
Precambrian Era: This era begins 4.6 billion years ago with the formation of earth from dust and gas orbiting the sun. This Era has either little or no life.
Paleozoic Era: Paleozoic lasted 325 million years, it is divided into 7 time periods. This Era has ocean life only.
Mesozoic Era: The Mesozoic Era lasted about 180 million years; it is divided into 3 time periods, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous. This Era is known as the age of reptiles.
Cenozoic Era: The Cenozoic Period began 65 million years ago with the extinction of the dinosaurs. This is the age of mammals which is what we live in now.
