PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Virginia was the first England colony. It was founded by John Smith who was an English soldier,explorer and author and a group of other colonists in 1607. The capitals of Virginia were Jamestown(1607-1699)and Williamsburg(1699-1776).
Virginia's colonists were mandated to worship the Anglican church and support it's upkeep with their taxes which denied religious freedom to the colonists.
Virginia had mountains,valleys and coastal plains which provided a beautiful sight of the ocean.
In order to thrive the Virginia Colony needed a stale crop that could be exported for profit. John Rolfe who was an early English settler found that in tobacco. This is why Virginia relied heavily on tobacco to support their economy.

Virginia was one of the richest colonies,this was because in 1606 a group of wealthy London businessmen petitioned King James 1 for money to found the Virginia Colony and they still had money left over. Then they discovered tobacco and selling it to England made them very rich.
in 1624 Virginia was crowned a royal colony (which means they have a royal governor appointed by a British official)
In 1611 the Virginia colony came the rule of Sir Thomas Dale and Good Order in Virginia. Sir Thomas Dale was a English naval commander and deputy-governor of Virginia in 1611 and 1614-1616.
The Battle of Yorktown happened from September 28 through October 19. 72 people died from the colonies 309 from the British, 381 in all died. This was an important event in the American Revolution. You can go see the battlefield, and stand on the soil where George Washington and his army once stood.
