• He was born on the 8th of February 1944
• His hometown is in Aimorès ,in Brazil

• He started working as an economist for the International Coffee Organization
• He often travelled to Africa because of his job
• He started taking photography more seriously ,while staying there
• And in 1973 he switched his job from economist to photographer

• He initially worked for Sygma association ,based in Paris
• In 1979 he joined an international cooperative of photographers “Magnum Photos “

• He left Magnum in 1994,to form his own agency “Amazon Images with his wife Lélia Wanick

• He is particularly noted for his social documentary photography of workers in less developed nations
• He has been UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 2007

• THE OTHER AMERICAS ,SAHEL, WORKERS ,MIGRATION , AND HIS LATEST,GENESIS

• His most famous pictures are from a gold mine and its workers ,in Serra Pelada,Brazil

• The first from the Eugene Smith Memorial Fund
• And the last ,in 2007 People Choice awards for best exhibition
