CARBOHYDRATES

  • The number one source if energy for your brain and body
  • Found in grains, dairy, fruits, etc.
  • Complex carbs are better than simple carbs
  • Complex- minerals, fiber, vitamins

  • Helps build and repair muscle
  • It should be 1/4 of your plate
  • Found in meats, nuts, beans, eggs, ect.
  • 4 calories per gram

FATS

  • Helps keep us warm, look good, and it cushions organs
  • Can be used as energy
  • Healthy fats- seeds, olive oil, canola oil
  • Avoid saturated fats (butter)
  • 9 calories per gram

  • Protects against illness
  • If you don't tend to them, you will become weak
  • Pineapple, grapes, onions, blackberries, ect.
