Cecil the lion was one of the wild animals that was killed from poaching, and all around the world non hunters and animal activists were furious over his death. Wild animals were not meant for captivity, but because of poaching and the destruction of their homes we have forced them there and nearly to extinction. We need to stop the killing of wild animals and preserve their habitats to stop them from going extinct and to protect these beautiful from creatures from poachers.

“An estimated 100,000 elephants were killed for their ivory between 2010 and 2012, an average of approximately one every 15 minutes. The carcasses of illegally killed elephants now litter some of Africa’s premiere parks. Elephants are under threat even in areas that were once thought to be safe havens”(Amid). Elephants are running out of places to escape.

Scientists have even built captive breeding programs to make sure that the next generation of the species will survive, because the outcome can not be predicted in the wild if the young will survive with all the dangers poachers. Zoos keep animals safe from poachers but they also keep them from being in their natural environment. Animals should be able to run free regardless of the inconvenience it has on our lives.
