• Foundation for being active
• child centred teaching
• progressive skills

BUT

Proponents against FMS argue:

• Skills do not occur in isolation
• There is no such thing as the 'right' technique
• Neglects the link to the environment
• Debates the notion of 'building blocks'
• Negative transfer ignored
