  • Joseph goebbels was born October 29 1897
  • He was born in Rheydt, Germany
  • He graduated from a Roman Catholic high school
  • He spent 5 years at the university of Hedelberg

DER ANGRIFF

  • Hitler made him I district leader of berlin
  • He founded Der angriff
  • Der Angriff was a weekly national socialist newspaper

PROPAGANDA

  • The next year Hitler appointed him to the post of national director of propaganda for the nazis
  • Goebbels had complete control of German newspaper, magazines, books, music, films, stage plays, radio program, and even fine arts
  • He had to present Hitler and Germany in a positive way

BOOK BURNING

  • In April 1933 Hitler had Goebbels orchestrate a boycott against Jewish business
  • Goebbels had a big part in the burning of non German books
  • This took place at Berlin's opera house

REICH CHAMBER OF CULTURE

  • n September 1933 Goebbels became director of the Reich Chamber of Culture
  • Their mission was to control all aspects of art
  • In October came the passage of the Reich Press Law, which ordered the removal of all Jewish and non-Nazi editors from German newspapers and magazines

DEATH

  • Joseph Goebbels was appointed chancellor after Hitler committed suicide
  • Only a day after Hitler committed suicide Joseph Goebbels also committed suicide
  • He died May 1, 1945 in Berlin Germany
