BUTTERFLY
Butterfly is a beautiful and an amazing insect. Butterfly has a four-stage life cycle.

BUTTERFLY EGG

  • The egg is tiny. It is round or oval in shape. The eggs are normally laid on leaves.
  • Butterfly lays more than 20 eggs each time. The eggs will hatch in 3 to 12 days.

CATERPILLAR
A caterpillar will eat all day long. They can grow up to 2 inches. The caterpillar will shed its skin as it grows. They will eat for about 2 weeks.

CHRYSALIS

  • After 2 weeks, the caterpillar will attach itself to a twig.
  • The pupa looks like a waxy vase and becomes transparent as the days go by.
  • It looks like the caterpillar is resting but it is turning into a butterfly.

ADULT BUTTERFLY

  • When the butterfly comes out, its wings are wet and soft.
  • The butterfly will rest first. After 3 hours, the butterfly will flap its wings and start to fly.
  • It will look for a mate and start to reproduce. Life cycle begins again!!

  • Butterflies taste food with their feet.
