DIABETES HAS MANY SYMPTOMS

  • Being extra hungry

WHAT IS DIABETES?

  • Diabetes happens in two different ways: type one and type two.
  • Your pancreas helps produce insulin that lets sugar into your cells.
  • Diabetes can damage your liver, the secondary glucose (sugar) producer in the body.

TYPE 1 DIABETES

  • Is usually genetic.
  • Will usually appear at ages 6-20.
  • Is caused by your immune system attacking your insulin producing cells

TYPE 2 DIABETES

  • Causes insulin resistant cells in your body.
  • Makes your pancreas unable to produce enough sugar to overcome the resistance.
  • Can be caused when the patient is over weight, eats unhealthy, or doesn’t exercise.
