Introduction

pope john paul II was a strong role model and encouraged human dignity. he spoke for self-respect and the suffering of the world. he was a very public person around the world.

pope john paul ii was inspired by his parents, was taught all about God, and continues to spread human dignity.

early Childhood

Pope john paul ii's birth name is karol wojtyla. his parents wanted him to live a life devoted to god. his father inspired him to grow his relationship with god and care for others. he has grown to respect others and to want the best for everyone.

karol's teachers saw him as a hard worker and very compassionate student. his parents taught him to be sensitive of others feeling no matter the situation. he worked very hard to do well in his studies.

Karol's mother passed away from a illness, when he was eight in 1929. his brother died from the scarlet fever during his practice to become a doctor in 1932. his father died in 1941 and karol was really upset because he believes he didn't complete what was asked of him.

religious upbringing

karol received his baptism in 1920 from a chaplain from the polish army, fr. franciszek. he received his first communion at the age of nine in 1929. at eighteen he received his confirmation.

he was ordained at the age of 24 on november 1, 1946. in 1958 he was appointed Bishop of Ombi, Poland. in 1964, he was appointed archbishop of KrakÓw. he was then cardinal for pope paul vi in 1967. in 1978 he then became pope and took the name pope john paul ii after his predecessor.

his parents raised to fight for others who can't fight for themselves. he continued to live the values and virtues that his parents taught him.
