General Expectations:
These rules are usually developed together and involve how students will treat and respect one another and their teacher.

Beginning of the Day:
Elementary students usually need a routine because it sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Transitions:
Students may need to have rules in place so they know when it is an appropriate time to talk or not.

Use of materials:
Students may need to have rules about when and where they can obtain class materials (art, computers, etc.)

Group Work:
Procedures for keeping students on task when working in a group/ reminding them of expected behavior (minimal talking, leadership, etc.)

Most importantly, teachers and students should discuss class rules together (starting on the first day of school). The teacher will make the ultimate decisions, but the students have valuable input, and should agree with the rules put into place.
