PRESENTATION OUTLINE

How we damage the ozone layer and why we should care

First, a few facts of the Ozone Layer

  • The ozone layer acts as earth's sunscreen
  • The ozone in the ozone layer absorb UV light
  • The ozone layer is located in the stratosphere. The second layer of the atmosphere.
  • Without the ozone layer, too much UV light will leak into the troposphere burning it's inhabitants.
  • Ozone consists of three oxygen atoms.

CFCs and the Ozone Layer

  • CFC's break down in the stratosphere and release chlorine atoms
  • Just one chlorine atom can split apart many ozone molecules
  • Humans release CFCs into the atmosphere by using the fridge, ACs, and hairspray

Why should I care?

  • Because with less ozone, more UV radiation will enter the troposphere and will burn on us.

UV lights effects on us

  • Ages skin
  • Damages eyes
  • Causes skin cancer
  • Causes sun burn
  • Damages immune system

If we don't take good care of the ozone layer, we will be affected negatively. For example we will get skin cancer and our immune systems will be damaged. You don't want that to happen. Right?
