Robin Williams was known for his Stand-up comedy and Acting.

Williams suffered from severe depression that was enhanced and amplified by drinking and the use of cocaine.

Depression is when people get very sad and feel hopeless for long periods of time.

Williams suffered with depression for much of his life. It began in the 1970's when he became a frequent user of cocaine.

In the 1980's, shortly after the birth of his son and the death of a very good friend, he quit drinking and using drugs. He turned to cycling.

Williams had been in and out of rehab since the 1980's. After the death of his close friend he began getting treatment for his depression.

Before his death on August 11, 2014, it is noted that he was suffering severely from depression, anxiety, and paranoia.

Williams died by hanging himself. He was not getting treatment for his depression at this time.

After his death, it became public that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and had some form of dementia. He would not have lived more than 3 years.
