INTRO

  • River Rouge Power Plant is a coal-fired power station owned and operated by DTE Energy near River Rouge, Michigan. The plant has two coal-fired units. One unit was retired in November 2015, and the other is planned for retirement in 2023.[1]

VOLTAGE

  • DTE's distribution line voltages are three-phase 4,800 volts
  • Voltage, also called electromotive force, is a quantitative expression of the potential difference in charge between two points in an electrical field.

DISTRIBUTION

  • DTE's almost 11-gigawatt generating capacity is offered to its 7,600-square-mile service area, which includes13 counties in southeast Michigan
  • Without current the distribution of this electricity wouldn't be possible
  • Current is rate of flow of electric charge, in the direction that a positive moving charge would take measured in amperes.

RESISTANCE

  • Resistance is used to keep electricity becoming overpowering so they don't over work the power lines.
  • Resistance is an electrical quantity that measures how the device or material reduces the electric current flow through it.

POWER

  • Fossil fuel is the main source of power distributing 80-85% of the power the rest comes from mostly nuclear power.
  • Electric power is the rate, per unit time, at which electrical energy is transferred by an electric circuit.
