  • Also, some demanded the full equality of women.

  • People started questioning what their parents taught them about middle class values.
  • Middle Class Values- a belief in God, hard work, and service to their country
  • They rebelled by wearing weird clothes and growing their hair long.

  • The music festival Woodstock became a symbol of young people's rebellion against traditional values.
  • People who rebelled called themselves hippies.
  • They believed there should be more love and personal freedom in America.

  • Christianity was the main religion but young people were starting to turn to other religions like Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism.
