Read - Aloud

  • Model intonation.

Silent / Independent Reading

  • The student is able to choose their own book at their reading level.
  • Exposure to a lot of different books.
  • The student can complete a book report and share it to the class.
  • Time to relax and learn about our favorite things.
  • A vivid example of the importance of letters in the society.

Listening

  • The students are able to learn about proper intonation.
  • The student is able to activate the schema and acquire new knowledge.
  • The student will practice how to have a conversation.
  • By listening, the student is going to be able to comprehend the story read.
  • The student is able to identify the author purpose in a story.

Discussion Questions

  • A driving question will be given to the students.
  • The students are going to practice think aloud.
  • The students are going to practice think pair.
  • The answer is going to be share by the students to the group.
  • The students can learn different types of views.

Group Reading / Literature Circle

  • The students are going to read on their own reading level.
  • A small group setting is used.
  • The teacher can use running records to document improvements.
  • Work in the areas that the students need more help to move from Tiers.
  • Build fluency and comprehension by reading books.

Reading - Writing Connection

  • The student can write a reflection of the story.
  • The student can write about a genre or using an specific genre.
  • A writing product is expected.
  • The student can be creative by changing the end of a story already read.
  • The student can use the writing process as an author.

  • Use e-books to improve fluency and vocabulary acquisition.
  • Use as a recorder to make running records and document about a student.
  • For an ELL, use the technology to facilitate comprehension and vocabulary.
  • The students can write their own story and publish it.
  • Use the technology as part of an assessment.

Special Areas (Art, Music, PE)

  • Explain how the illustrations are made.
  • The student can find the purpose of certain music in a story.
  • The student can demonstrate their feelings by movement.
  • How the author purpose is change by changing the illustrations of a book.
  • How the music is able to express different feelings.
