WHAT IS OUR ISM TODAY?

OUR "ISM" IS "TECHISM"

What is the American Dream?
The American Dream is making a better life for yourself. It is using today's resources to expand your opportunities.

In the article "Is the American Dream Withering or Just Changing," by Dan Kadlec it talks about how technology is such a big part of our daily life, and how people are so wrapped up in it that distracts us from taking care of our daily responsibilities.

"Young people can't imagine life without the Internet or smartphones," (Kadlec,1)

Also in the article, "Using an IPad or Smartphone can Harm a Toddlers Learning and Social Skills," by Terrence McCoy, it talks about how toddlers who use any source of technology on a daily basis put themselves at risk of having low social skills when they're older. Most toddlers are surrounded by technology and play on either a smart phone or IPad instead of with other kids.

"He knew how to use the home button, how to open apps. It was amazing to see how quickly he was able to use it." ( McCoy, 1)

How does this "ism" relate to an English 10 text?
This relates to the Great Gatsby because Gatsby is making a better life for himself with fancy cars and expensive parties. He took all of the opportunities he got, and made something of himself.

So what?
This relates to the world today because technology has become such a big part of Americans daily life.
