What is an Elevator Pitch?

  • a quick synopsis of your background & experience
  • a way to share your expertise quickly & effectively
An elevator pitch is a short synopsis of your background and experience.
It's called an elevator pitch because is should be short enough to present during an elevator ride.

Explain What You Do

  • describe your research, project- why is it important to you?
  • explain value; info, data, statistics

Identify Your Idea

  • why is it important, special, unique?
  • how is it helpful?
  • why are you excited about it?

Engage with a Question

  • prepare open-ended questions (no "yes" or "no")
  • prepare answers & follow-ups to questions from your audience
