  • It is a staple food crop used by the majority of the people in india
  • Its a kharif crop- requires high temprature and humidity with anual rainfall above 100cm.
  • In areas with less rainfall- grows with the help of irrigation.

  • Rice is grown in- plains of north and north-eastern India, Coastal areas and the Deltaic regions.
  • Irrigation and tubewells made it possible to grow rice in areas of less rainfall- Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan.
