CHALLENGES

• The bridge is such a huge construction that getting it to where it is today was a problem.
• Luckily, with the help of the Asian Hercules II, the placement was easy.

• Gifford and Partners with Wilkinson Eyre began the construction in 1998.
• The bridge officially opened May 2002

USAGE

USAGE

• The bridge is a pedestrian/ cyclist bridge.
• It is said that over 4 million have crossed the bridge in the last 10 years.

INTERESTING FACTS

• The bridge is sometimes referred to as the "blinking eye bridge".
• It is the 16th tallest structure in the city.
• Unlike most bridges, this bridge has always been reliable.
