GHOST TOWNS

  • Villages began and didn't last
  • Not a good location
  • Many people moved away
  • The Panic of 1837 didn't help
  • Several towns started in late 1830s and 1840s became ghost towns

MAJOR TOWNS

  • Port Sheldon,10 miles south of Grand Haven
  • Singapore, near the Kalamazoo River was built to be a port city
  • Became a ghost town and became covered by sand dunes!
