Luitenent Governor: Sheila Simon
As Lieutenant Governor, Sheila Simon is the second highest executive officer in Illinois. She acts as the Governor’s point person on education reform and is leading efforts to increase college completion, inspire ethical government, and much more. She has been in office since 2003.
The Lieutenant Governor
- Chairman of the Governor's Rural Affairs Council
- Chairman of Rural Bond Bank of Illinois
- Head of the Illinois Main Street Program
- Chairman of the Illinois River Coordinating Council
- In addition to these duties, the luitenant governor can take on other projects.

- Illinois resident for 3 years
- Cannot take other government positions
About her
Sheila was born in 1961 in Springfield, Illinois.Her mom is a former state representative and her dad is a former U.S. Senator. Sheila lives with her two kids and husband, Perry Knop. She went to Georgetown law school, and worked as a law professor before becoming the luitenant governor.
