SACRIFICIAL TEMPLE

The Aztec were a very religious race and strongly beloved in the practice of sacrificing people to please the gods. The Emperor thought that a special temple should be built for deadly rituals So the Aztec built the Sacrificial Temple.

AZTEC HOMES

The main homes had walls which were made up of adobe dirt and water, and they were supporting the thatched roof. There were no separate rooms, just one big room. The second building had a steam bath area.

The most memorable monumental architecture would be the Shrine of the Gods because they had many of these building all over the Aztecs kingdom. Each Shrine had a special purpose and were located in special places. One of the was built to worship the Sun God.

The purpose of the Aztec civilization is to show the power that the Aztec had. The city of Aztecs was the militaries power. Local governments would remain in place, but would be forced to pay varying amounts of tribute to the Triple Alliance.

  • 1325- Aztec found Tenochitlan on a marshy island in lake Texcoco.
  • 1485-1547- Life of Hernando Cortez
  • 1502- Montezuma crowned Emperor of the Aztec
  • 1519- Cortez follows Columbus route to the Americas and lands in Mexico
  • 1520- Death of Montezuma
