2006 NEWS

The place I was born is here in Norway Michigan.

2006 was the year that the Pittsburgh Steelers won super bowl XL. Steelers proudly held the Lombardi Trophy with a 21-10 win over the Seahawks. With that win they tied the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys with 5 Super Bowl wins. Currently they have 6.

On a day in September a bombing on a train happened. A confirmed 209 people died and at least 700 hundred where injured in the bombing. This happened in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The target was the Mumbai Western Line.

The Sago mine disaster was when a coal mine exploded in January 2, 2006. In Sago, West Virginia for two days 13 coal miners where trapped in the mine. They all died except for one.

Lou Steigerwald or as we know Mr. Steigerwald was hired here at our school. He got hired on 2006. He is also still here.

In 2006 New Super Mario Bro’s took the world by storm. In 35 days they sold 500,000 thousand copies. In 12 weeks they sold 1,000,000 copies. Easily making it the most popular in 2006

Affects of this news. Now this news really overall didn’t effect me that much, but we bought New Super Mario Bro’s that year so maybe it did. The only news that really affected us was us buying New Super Mario Bro’s that year. Our county was affected from Steelers winning the super bowl so Steeler fans where happy. The mine disaster which was sad for everyone, and Mario breaking various records.

Also our town was affected by the hiring of Mr. Steigerwald to our school. The Steelers winning the super bowl affected people by upsetting and making some people happy. Also I bet some other people bought New Super Mario Bro’s too. The country was affected by Steelers beating the Seahawks which was good or bad to some. The Mumbai train bombing killed 209 people which was sad. The Sago Mine disaster was sad because 13 coal miners where trapped and only one survived

My opinion on all of this is that is was really unfortunate that those miners where trapped in the coal mine. I also would have preferred the Seahawks to beat the Steelers. The Mumbai train bombing was really bad leaving 209 dead. I think it was good that Mr. Steigerwald was hired at our school. I think New Super Mario Bro’s deserve the title of most popular in 2006.
