What do Indian Elephants eat?

  • Mixture of grassland and forest.
  • Bamboo
  • Tree bark
  • Palms
  • They will shake trees with their trunk to get food from the top of the tree.

Reasons for Endangerment:
Humans
Hunting them for their tusks
Moving into their habitats
Less than 25,000 living in the wild

What is being done to protect them?

  • Creating safe harbors in India.
  • Reconnecting migratory routes between protected areas to avoid human contact.

  • Subtropical and tropical forest
  • Moist forest
  • Grasslands
  • Located in India and Asia

Predators and Prey

  • Indian Elephants do not hunt.
  • They have few Predators because of their large size.
  • Few predators are lions, tigers, and crocodiles.
  • Biggest Predators are HUMANS!
