  • He started a notebook of human anatomy.
  • He made sketches of all parts of the human body.
  • The sketches included the eye socket, optic nerves entering the brain, human tendons, muscles, and the skeletal system.

  • He stopped studying the human anatomy for about 20 years.
  • Towards the end of his life he continued studying the human body.
  • He dissected about 30 dead bodies in order to accomplish what he wanted to learn about the body.

  • Leonardo used his knowledge from his experience with sculpting to inject organs with wax to make casts.
  • He dissected every muscle and pulled and tugged to observe how they worked.
