How to Begin the Conversation
Questions
- Ask questions about what they believed:
“What do you think about God?”
“Do you identify with any belief systems?”
“Does your family have any religious beliefs?”
Share
- Ask permission to share what you believe
Ex: “Would you mind if I shared with you what I believe?”
- Maybe share your testimony or the gospel.
How to Briefly Share the Gospel
The Gospel
- God's love
- Our sin
- Jesus's sacrifice
- Our response
How to Follow Up after the Conversation
Ask
-ask if you could follow up with them
-ask for contact information
-ask if they know any other christians who they can engage with
-ask to pray with them
Invite
-invite them to join you for church, small group, or spiritual activity
-invite them to continue the conversation
-invite them to meet up and talk outside of work
Provide
-provide resources
like online websites, books, Bible, information of churches in the area
-provide opportunities for safe conversation
letting people know they can approach you if they have questions
Often times it can seem like daunting task, but sharing the gospel with a co-worker or friend can be a great experience. The majority of unbelievers are not uncomfortable or angry when discussing personal beliefs.
