Maya's early Life

  • Born on June 11, 1989 in Jefferson City, Missouri
  • Lived with mother Kathryn
  • Got mini toy hoop from mother and started playing basketball around age 4
  • Got big outside hoop when 8 and practiced for hours and hours
  • Loved watching WNBA games on T.V.
  • Dream to become basketball star too

High School Awesomeness

  • Played basketball at Collins Hill High School in Georgia
  • Was determined to be a great student and basketball star player
  • Made the USA Today freshman and sophomore All-America teams
  • Won the Naismith National Player of the Year award twice
