Timeline of the era

  • The Paleolithic Period ranged until about 6000 B.C.
  • The Archaic Period, from 6000 B.C. to A.D. 700
  • The Late Prehistoric Period from about A.D. 700 to A.D. 1500

The first Texans

  • The first Texans found their way to Texas across the Ice bridge
  • They were hunting Ice age animals like the Wooly Mammoth
  • The early Texans were hunters because it was all about survival back then

The Paleolithic Period

  • The Paleolithic Period began when the first Texans arrived
  • It is the first of three time periods in one big era
  • This is when they were hunting Ice Age animals for food

The Archaic Period

  • The Archaic Period is the second of three time periods that fit into one big era
  • When Ice age animals began to die out, the Texans evolved this marked the beginning of the Archaic Period
  • The early Texans began to make pottery and other tools

The Late Prehistoric Period

  • The Late Prehistoric Period is the final time period in the Prehistory Era
  • This is when European explorers found their way to Texas
