PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
CRUSTY CORE
OUR LAYERS OF THE EARTH AND WHY
2.
CRUST FACTS
The crust is 62 miles thick in some parts.
It is as thin as 3.2 miles thick in other parts.
We live on it!
It is made of soil, minerals, dead plants and animals, and other elements.
It is on the outside.
3.
MORE FACTS ABOUT THE CRUST
It is a solid.
4.
REASONS FOR OUR CRUST
Soil- Because that is what we live and walk on most of the time.
Sand- Because that is what out lines most water sources.
Modeling clay - The modeling clay represents other minerals inside the crust.
5.
MANTLE FACTS
It is 2900 km (1,801.976 miles) thick.
It's the largest layer of earth.
The upper layer of the mantle is part of the lithospere.
It is made up of molten rock called lava.
It is soild on the upper part and liquid on the bottom.
6.
REASONS FOR OUR MANTLE
Spraypainted red newspaper- beacuase the molten lava in the...
...mantle is red. So we thought we need sonething red. Cale's....
...mom had newspaper and spraypaint so he suggested it.
7.
FACTS ABOUT THE OUTER CORE
It is a liquid
It has a temprature of about 7,200 to 9,000 °F.
It is made up of iron and nickel.
8.
REASONS FOR OUR OUTER CORE
Tin foil- the inner and outer core are both made of metals so we...
...needed something metal. So we thought of tin foil.
9.
FACTS ABOUT THE INNER CORE
It is a solid.
It is also made up of iron and nickel.
It's temperature of once again about 7,200 to 9,000.
10.
REASONS FOR OUR INNER CORE
Marble- we new we needed something circular to start it all off. So..
...we also knew we needed something that could represent iron and....
...nickle. So we thought of a marble.
