COTTON GIN

• Helped slaves separate cotton fibers from the seeds faster
• Plantation owners bought more land to plant more cotton
• The land plantation owners bought was toward the west which caused lots of western expansion
• Before the cotton gin slaves had to separate cotton by hand which took longer
• After it was invented they can separate it half as fast

How it helped America

The cotton gin helpedAmerica in many ways. It allowed slaves to separate the seeds and fibers faster and it took a little amount of time. Since slaves were getting more cotton done the plantation owners bought more land west to plant more cotton.

TELEGRAPH

• The telegraph allowed two people to contact each other faster and easier using morse code
• This invention helped speed western expansion by contacting people from the west and telling them to explore more
• Before the telegraph younwou,d have to send hand written letters which could take weeks even months to deliver
• Now after it was invented you can send a message in a few minutes

How this helped America

The telegraph was a great invention. It allowed several people to communicate faster. Instead of sending letters you can contact someone.

STEAMBOAT

• Allowed people to travel good and other people faster and with less work
• This sped western expansion by being able to travel through rivers faster
• Before the steam boat people had to use row boats and ships to travel which could take longer and much more work
• After it was invented people could carry more goods and people and they could get around faster

How this helped America

The steamboat helped spread west by traveling up river easier and faster. It can hold more people and goods and it takes less work to operate.

RAILROAD

• The railroad allowed steam trains to travel much faster than a wagon and could carry more stuff and people
• This sped western expansion because it allowed more people to travel west and could bring more supplies to build stuff
• Before they would have to use a wagon and horse which could only haul a little amount and would take longer
• After this invention was invented people could take lots more products across rivers at a faster pace

How it helped

The railroad helped America by getting somewhere faster. The rail road trains could hold lots more people than a wagon and lots more goods or luggage.
