What was it like before the industrial revolution?

Before the I.R. Most Americans lived on farms or in small towns,they barely traveled places. When/if they did they were likely to ride a horse.

Changes?
During the I.R. There were many changes. For example most Americans would grow their own food and make their own clothes and then when the I.R. Began many Americans started buying their food and clothes, instead of growing and making their own.

The industrial revolution continued In the 20th century bringing inventions such as electric lights,and telephones into people's homes. Cars replaced horses,skyscrapers have taken up city's, everything seemed to be getting bigger and faster.
