DEEP STRUCTURES

  • The deep structure include the hypothalamus and the pituitary glands.
  • The hypothalamus controls hunger, sleep, temperature, thirst, blood pressure, and emotions.
  • The pituitary lies at the end of the skull or brain, and is connected to the hypothalamus. It is the top dog, chief part of the brain. It fights diseases, secretes hormones, and responds to any type of stress.

FACTS!

  • The brain stem is thought to be the oldest part of your brain!
  • The brain is thought to be 3 pounds.
  • The brain is about 75% water! So make sure to drink lots of water.

A HEALTHY BRAIN

  • To keep your brain healthy, you need to;
  • Exercise daily, for about 2-3 hours.
  • Maintain a healthy diet, including many nutrients that help the brain, such as salmon and proteins.
  • Sleep a lot! An average adult spends at least 8 hours of sleep. Sleep also allows the brain to rest and take a break.
  • Make sure to include stimulating thinking activities to train your brain!
