PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Location
Ancient Greece was located at the southeast end of Europe and is the southern most country of the Balkan Peninsula.
City-State
City-States are political units that are independant states that seperatly rule the land and area around it.Some of the Ancient Greece city-states are Athens, Sparta, Corinth, and Thebes.
Golden Age
The Golden Age was during the leadership of Pericles during the 5th century BCE. Most of these achievments were in the City-State Athens. Some of the achievments were the great monuments they built , adaptation of art, philosophy, architecture, and literature.
Athens
Athens was the most powerful and largest Greek state. Best known for the amazing Parthenon on the Acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena, and for being the first ever democracy in the world.The first official Olympic Games were held in the city of Athens.The great Philosopher Plato was widely known in the city of Athens and travelled widely through out the country.
Athenians
The people of Athens believed everyone could be free as long as they followed the law. Many of the people strove to become Soldiers or Athletes while others became experts at Philosophy, Drama, Pottery, and the Arts.They belived in the mind and the body which means they believed one should be smart just as he is athletic.
Sparta
Sparta was the rival state of Athens and went into many wars with them. Sparta was determined to have the strongest warriors and military. Sparta was ruled under two kings and a 28 people council.
Sparta was one of the best known City-States of ancient Greece.
Spartans
Spartans were fierce warriors and were had the strongest warriors and military. Spartans were rivals of the city Athens. As soon as a baby was born the Spartans checked if he was strong enough or not if not they would leave them on a hill to die. Spartans boys were forced to go to military school at the age of 7 to start practicing becoming fierce warriors.
Hellenistic
The Hellenistic period was between the death of Alexander The Great and the rise of the Roman Empire. During this period Greek culture flourished, spreading through the Mediterranean and into the Near East and Asia and centering on Alexandria in Egypt and Pergamum in Turkey.At this time Greek culture had nearly reached all parts of alot of places.
Daily Life Of A Greek
The daily life of a greek was based upon if you were a man or womaon. Men usually met in public and made decisions on different topics. While woman were told to do all the houshold chores and take care of the house and didnt have much freedom. Usually Athenians thought keeping the body fit was very important so usally men practiced sports specially for the Olympics.
Greek Goverment
Ancient Greek was the first ever country to do democracy. Athens was the first city-state to be democratic. Although not everyone wasnt able to vote no woman.no children, no slaves, and no foreigners, only the free citizens of Athens with Athenian parents could vote. Although not all the city-states were democratic some had kings ruled over them and some were oligarchic, tyrannies, or monarchies.
Alexander The Great
Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356BC. Alexander the great had forged the largest Western Empire in the world.Alexander was born to King Phillip 11 and Queen Olympias. Alexander was taught by great philosopher and scientist Aristotle for 3 years.During ruling his Empire Alexander died at a very young age 32 years old.
The Parthenon
The Parthenon is made to the Goddess Athena in the city-state of Athens.The work for the Parthenon began during 447 BC. In the midddle of temple is a big statue of the Goddess Athena built by Phidias and made out of elephant ivory and gold.
Social Structure
All the way on the top was the God/Goddess and under them was the council . After them is the freed men from the country,then is the jury.After the jury are the woman and the children and all the way on the bottom are the slaves and immigrants.
3 Gods/Goddesses: #1 Athena
Athena was the Goddesses of wisdom and military victory. Her parents were Zeus and Metis. Athena was the patron/Goddess of the city-state Athens.She is also known for the the temple the Athenians built for her known as the Parthenon.

Zeus was the God of thr Sky and the Kings of all the Gods.Zeus was born feom Cronus and Rhea the youngest of his siblings to be born.Zeus used a special thunderbolt as his weapon which he hurled at whoever defied him.Zeus wife was Hera but he was know to have a lot of affairs with many different people.

Dionysus was known as the god of wine, & agriculture.Dionysus was alos the Greek patron of Greek Stage.According to a myth Dionysus was born from Zeus and an immortal woman; Semele.Dioysus was the only God with a mortal parent.
