• The bully made his victims emulate him because he was bigger that them
• Instead of trying to intimidate your young brother, you would emulate him

• The zombies were walking the streets and eating all the humans
• Joey looked like a little zombie while I peeled the coats off her body

CHAPTERS 5-8

ANTIFREEZE

• A liquid used to lower a liquids freezing point
• His car was freezing up in the cold so he used antifreeze
• We bought spark plugs, oil, and antifreeze

CHIHUAHUA

• A small dog with smooth hair and big eyes
• My dog (a chorkie) is a mix between a Chihuahua and a Yorkshire terrier
• Every chihuahua in America lines up to take a bite out of Byron

COLOGNE

• Scented water
• Fragrance, perfume
• He put on cologne for his wedding so he wouldn't smell bad
• You too old for a little old spice he slapped the cologne on me

• My conscience was telling me to do this for quite some time now

• I am very accustomed to having pop-tarts for breakfast
• First you get accustomed to it then you learn to like it

EAVESDROPPED

• To listen in on a conversation
• Snoop, overhear
• Most of the time eavesdropping is the way rumors are spread
• When Mrs. Davidson left momma went upstairs into joeys room, I eavesdropped.

FACILITIES

• The space needed to do something
• Accommodation, resource
• I use the facilities a lot in fancy restaurants because they keep filling the glass
• A house is a whole lot nicer if the facilities are outside

GNASHING

• Grinding of teeth
• Grate, crush
• When I'm nervous I start gnashing my teeth
• And gnashin' of the teeth I kept pushing on

HILLBILLY MUSIC

• Western, country music
• Popular music from the mountains of the U.s of A
• I hate listening to that hillbilly music trash, too much banjo
• The only kind of radio station you can get is hillbilly music

JIVE SONGS

• They were dancing to the uncontrollable beat of the jive song
• We listened to a couple of jive songs

• The pathetic man was on the streets begging for companionship because he didn't have any friends

• A disease spread by infected saliva in animals
• The raccoon had saliva at his mouth and I knew he had rabies
• She'd be foaming at the mouth like she had rabies

• Once we leave the constraints of the city, we find so many rednecks
• Rednecks up here that ain't never seen no negroes

• I don't go to a restaurant if they don't have a good sanitation rating

• A pro wrestler
• The sheik was a very famous wrestler in the 50-60
• Like when champion Bobo Brazil meets the sheik

• Someone that tells someone of a higher authority that something wrong was done
• Tattletale, betrayer
• In Tk everyone was a snitch, even if they were the one who broke the rules
• He thought I was the snitch but it was joey

• The chocolate is the biggest temptation if you are on a diet

CHAPTERS 12-13

DUKING

• To fight with fists
• To battle,
• I duke it out with bayne all the time at home for fun
• Byron and the wool pooh started ducking it out

ELECTROCUTED

• To kill with electricity
• Fry, zap
• In the 50's they electrocuted the worst criminals to death
• Byron was pretty shaking like he was electrocuted

STINGY

• Reluctant to give or buy
• Selfish, greedy
• The stingy old man didn't buy anything
• He just grabs folks that are to stingy to let peons on their land

TRESPASSING

• In private property without permission
• Infraction, misdemeanor
• There Are a lot of kids that trespass in our back yard

WHIRLPOOL

• Water in fast circular motion
• Vortex, eddy
• I would not want to be stuck in a whirlpool that would be dangerous
• Jimmy got caught up some whirlpool

• Shifty, sly
• A crafty or cunning place or thing
• That alleyway looks very wilier at nighttime
• Ther ain't too many animals wilier or tougher than an old coon

CHAPTERS 14-15 EPILOUGE

• To stop buying or doing something
• Avoid, reject
• During the revolutionary war there were many boycotts against the British
• Sit-ins and boycotts of stores and public transport applied economic pressure

CONFRONTATIONS

• A fight between two sides
• Fights, battles
• There are lots of confrontations going on around the world
• The goal was to create tension and to provoke confrontations

DISCRIMINATION

• Assaulting one race or gender because of there race or gender
• Racist, hatred
• During the civil rights movements there was even more discrimination in city's and towns
• In the northern, western, and eastern states African Americans often faced discrimination

INTERACIAL

• Involving multiple races
• There was a lot of interracial conflicts in the civil rights movements
• Prohibited interracial marriage and enforced segregation laws

• A type of tree with big thick leaves

• I had a magnolia tree planted in my front yard
• So I walked over to the giant magnolia tree and rested

• The oil spill was very pervasive towards the oceans
• African Americans often faced discrimination, but not as extreme and pervasive as the south

• Segregation is not right and you should never take one race over the other

• When something goes so fast it breaks the sound barrier

• If you ever hear a sonic boom you'd probably go deaf
• Dad kept looking toward the sky and said '' hmm must've been a sonic boom''

• I strove to finish this work on time and I failed
