Companies like 4Ocean and sand cloud are working to make products so they can end the ocean plastic crisis and save sea life

Some sea animals effected by plastic pollution are sea turtles, seals and sea lions, sea birds, fish, and whales and dolphins

Sea turtles are one of the most endangered sea animals due to plastic pollution

700 marine species might go extinct because of plastic pollution

PLASTIC POLLUTION

Massive amounts of plastic and trash are being dumped and thrown into the ocean

Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans, of which the majority spills out from rivers. A portion of this plastic travels to ocean garbage patches, getting caught in a vortex of circulating currents. If no action is taken, the plastic will increasingly impact or ecosystems, health, and economies.

EFFECT TO OUR HEALTH

Pollution can effect food that we eat. Metals and other contaminants can accumulate in seafood and make it harmful to eat. More than one-third of the shellfish-growing waters of the United States are adversely affected by coastal pollution.

Pollution is killing and poisoning coral reefs

Rising sea surface temperatures and acidic waters could eliminate nearly all existing coral reef habitats by 2100.

Warmer waters stress corals causing them to release symbolic algae living inside them. This turns typically vibrant-colored communities of corals white, a process called bleaching.

Bleached corals are not dead, but they are at higher risk of dying, and these bleaching events are becoming more common.

People are choosing to help the ocean but some are not. We need to do something to save God’s creatures. This earth was made so that we could call it home. So we need to take care of it and undo the damage that we have done.
