PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Both the Incas and Aztecs believed in and worshipped the sun god. They both practiced and participated in human sacrifices. And had built large temples to do the sacrifices in and had built special temples to worship thier god. The Incas and Aztecs had a polytheistic religion meaning they only beilved in one god.

Government

  • Government for the Aztec - The Chaco Canyon community engaged in trade, hunting and irrigated agriculture and exerted some political and religious dominance over the area but declined due to drought, overpopulation, and warfare. the tlatoani was the ultimate owner of all land in his city-state, received tribute, oversaw markets and temples, led the military, and resolved judicial disputes.
  • Government of the Mayans- Ruled by large city-states. The ancient Maya shared a similar ideaology and worldview, but they were never united as a single empire. Instead, the Maya lived in individual political states that were together through trade, political alliances, and tribute obligations.
  • Government for the Inca - Inca left local rulers in place and took their heirs to Cusco. This created an imperial bureaucracy. Inca were the strongest and largest nation of the Colombia America. Actually general people in that society were not called Inca or Sapa Inca. He was known as the descendent of Sun to the people of that Empire.

The Aztecs followed a strict social hierarchy in which individuals were identified as nobles (pipiltin), commoners (macehualtin), serfs, or slaves. The noble class consisted of government and military leaders, high level priests, and lords (tecuhtli).
