Every year, more than 3 million child abuse cases are reported in the United States, one of the worst records among civilized societies. Examples are physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and physical and emotional neglect. About 80 percent of the abuse cases involve at least one parent as a perpetrator. More than 1,500 children die every year as a result of abuse and neglect. About 70 percent of them are under two years of age

THE CASE

  • On June fourth two children were rushed to the hospital both with sever injuries ages 4 and 3. They were beaten by their mothers boyfriend who knowingly allowed the beating to happen. The 4 year old died in the hospital. The defendants Lakeisha Jones and James Anderson were both charged with felony child abuse. Lakeisha had left for work from 11-7 and she returned to police at her house after they found the two almost dead children in the back of a car. The plaintiff, the state won the case charging both parents with child abuse and neglect.

In my opinion I believe the courts made the right decision here it definitely was the parents at fault and they should be charged
