Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone - Erika Truong

Main Idea

  • Main Idea - The kids had thought Mr. Ratburn was marrying the mean and strict lady so they attempted to stop the wedding but Mr. Ratburn turned out to be marrying the nice guy who sold chocolates.
  • “You're too soft Nigel, too easy going. We need to toughen you up.” The lady was portrayed as uptight and have very high standards
  • Mr. Radburn has books about love and has directly said he’s getting married.
  • (4:11-4:31) The kids pictured and overthink about scenarios about the wedding which caused more problems to arise.

Theme

  • Theme - Don’t jump to conclusions without knowing the whole story.
  • “Of Mr. Ratburn marries Paddy, our lives are toast!” They assumed Paddy was the one Mr. Ratburn was marrying and immediately tried to butt in and try to ‘break them up’ them.
  • “Sure, Mr. Ratford and Ms. Turner are a perfect match.” They tried to stop the wedding by setting up the teacher and librarian.
  • “What if Mr. Ratburn the exact opposite of what Paddy was looking for.” They tried changing how Mr. Ratburn looks in front of the lady in order for her to change her mind on the wedding.
