During many years of history, people who followed certain cultures and beliefs were treated with inferiority, however, many people believed that some of the customs were “ok” to use if it wasn't used by “that” group of people. Cultural appropriation is stealing a custom or symbolic object from a culture and using it without giving credits to the rightful owners or without knowing anything about the significance it symbolizes, or just to wear it for “fashion” or because it's “cool”.
On this Exit Point, my main goal is to make people aware of Cultural Appropriation and what it is. I will try to create a platform on the internet where people who suffer from it could find a safe place to be and express themselves. The website will inform people of the problem and why it is so serious to the deal with. It will also show the original way in which those symbolic objects are used in different situations, giving credits to the rightful owners.
It must easy to be accessed by anyone.
It should be organized and easy to read through.
It has to be a safe space: if there is any comment that insults the rights of anyone, it will be deleted.
It should reach the target audience.
It needs to look aesthetic and nice.
All the money that people spend buying things that are from another culture will only go to the rightful owners if they are the ones selling, which is usually not the case.
Imagine Cultural Appropriation as if it is a neighbor who steals from you everything that makes up you, and they are the ones who get credit for being or looking awesome.
