Or was he called Abram?...

To start with, Abram was monotheistic, which means he believed in one God. This is the foundation of Judaism.

The people of Ur worshipped many gods. Abraham knew that there was only one, true God.

“Leave your own country and your father’s house, and go to a country that I will show you.” God spoke to Abram.

Abram obeyed and with his relatives, he traveled west to the land of Canaan. God promised to make Abram the father of a great nation.

When Abram was 99, God spoke to him again.

Abram and his wife, Sarai, were very old and longed for a child. But God promised he would have descendants as much as the stars.

God made a covenant with Abram that his descendants would be loved by him.
