multi use tool. Among the
uses, it is a Lockpick.

It seems to be able to
open any lock, except for wood
and deadbolts.

Instead of using wires to try to open a lock, this would allow you to open them automatically.

Hypothesis:
I really don't know. Ultrasonic waves can make things turn and spin, but if they can refine it enough and make it portable enough, then maybe it's possible.
