Who Was Adolf Hitler?
- Born: April 20th, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria
- Died: April 30th, 1945 in Berlin, Germany
- Wife: Eva Braun (1945-1945)
- He was a German Politician
- Hitler was considered one of the most powerful men on Earth
WHAT DROVE HITLER TO WANT SO MUCH POWER?
Hitler had a rough childhood
- His father hated him
- His family had financial difficulties
- He moved to Vienna when he was 15, where he gained an interest in politics

- His father died when he was 14
- He started to fail classes after that
- His father was a politician too and Adolf felt pressured to follow in his footsteps
Germany was in a depressed state
- After WWI Germans were losing everything (money, jobs, relationships, etc.)
- Germany had to pay $33 billion in reparations
- Everyone was upset when they lost
Hitler saw this as an opportunity to get followers and took advantage of Germany's depression.
Hitler's interest in politics
- After WWI Hitler wanted to engage in politics
- He first gained an interest when he was 15
What hitler wanted if he engaged in politics
- Germany blamed the Jews for their depression, and Hitler felt the need to get rid of them
- He wanted the world his way, and needed power to do that

HOW DID HITLER GET PEOPLE TO FOLLOW HIM?
"Used" Germans
- Took advantage of Germany's depression
- People were interested in what he had to say
- Germans were open to the concept of having a leader and to hear his beliefs
Hitler's Speaches
- He was a very persuasive and affective speaker
- He kept his speaches short and sweet and usually got right to the point
- He gave a voice to people's hopes and fears
Hitler's Promises
- Overthrow the Versailles treaty
- Overthrow the corrupt democracy
- Destroy Communism
- Offered a vision of a united Germany

- Make peace to the world
- He told people he wouldn't allow another communist revolution happen
Hitler's Followers
- Most of them were from Northern Germany
- He caught the young peoples' attention better
- A lot of his followers were from the middle class

- Germans really liked his Antisematic and Nationalism Programs
- Antisemitic - Hatred towards Jews
- He was a Nationalist for Germany
Propoganda
- Hitler put his propaganda EVERYWHERE
- He put up posters everywhere
- The Nazi flag was on almost every street you walked down
- Rallies and Marching Columns were held often
Some propaganda made Hitler look good

Power
- In 1933 Hitler gained full power
- He was granted the Chancellor of Germany from 1933-1945
- Created the Nazi party in the 1920's

- Hitler formed an alliance with Japan and Italy and invaded Poland in 1939 causing WWII
- He invaded and occupied 9 countries in total

- The Allied Powers started to fight back in 1949, closing in on the Axis Powers
- On September 2nd, 1949 Germany was forced to surrender
Germany's Economy
- Many people were left homeless and all alone after the war
- Germany owed $23 billion dollars in reparations
- After WWII Germans were depressed, just like after WWI

- Once the Allied Powers started to close in on Germany Hitler panicked
- He was married to Eva Braun for less than 40 hours
Hitler's Death
- He died on April 30th, 1949
- He committed suicide by gunshot
- His wife Eva was there too and took cyanide pills to also commit suicide
