PRESENTATION OUTLINE
My life from here to there
Year 2027
- I live in California, specifically so because of it's love for the arts.
- I live in a flat, using my large space to pin up my story ideas and sketches.
Untitled Slide
- By this time, I'll have completed my masters in the Arts- using my degree for story writing and character design.
I'll work for Cartoon network!
CN is known for it's show creators-
Why Cartoon Network?
- CN is not only known for it's show creators but also it's outside the box creativeness!
I know what you're thinking-
I know it must be strange to think about how a TV network can also produce comics- because even I thought that was strange.
But, if you can give CN a show or even storyboard for one of their famous ones-
You can move on to creating comics under their company-
Though working for a company like cartoon network isn't all easy breezy- You can't just draw something and be done!
Cartoon network gives you deadlines, specifics, ideas and guidelines you have to follow-
You may end up working as story boarding for an already hired show creator or-
you could end up on their sales and pitching team- Helping new creators make appointments and pitch their ideas!
While working for Cartoon Network isn't where I'd like my career to plateau, it's a good place to start!
Getting into a big name company like CN let's many creative doors open up in the art industry world!
Though, you may be asking- How can you be recognized by a major company?
First off, you have to make some sort of brand for yourself- start making small comics and stories and post them on websites like Tapas.io or webtoon!
These websites are free tools for creators and artists to display their work and occasionally earn money for it!
Once you build a big enough fan base and art portfolio, you can combine it with the portfolio you hopefully made in college!
You can then pitch your idea to Cartoon Network after setting up appointments! If they like it, you're in the clear to start working for them!
To start you off, they give you a few weeks to a few months to create a pilot episode, which they air on TV and judge fan base and ratings-
I believe I'll have pitched my show idea to the creators by now, creating and making in depth characters with storylines!
Hopefully, this helped you out deciding what you'd like to do if you are looking into graphic novels or animation!
One more thing I forgot to mention though! Online is your best friend for comic artists! It's how you're recognized and can table at conventions, pitch your ideas to comic publishers and even get picked up by companies like Netflix!
