TOXIC

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: poisonous or venomous.
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: There was many toxic chemicals used during the Vietnam war that affected the soldiers and citizens of Vietnam.

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: sickness or disease (that doesn’t spread).
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: Today veterans from the Vietnam War and citizens of Vietnam who were expose to Agent Orange suffer from different types of cancers including leukemia.

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: Year or number.
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: In the beginning of the Vietnam War, the US send out 2,000 soldiers to fight at first but soon the growth of soldiers coming from the US grew much larger.

1972

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: number or date
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: In 1972, two Allies (Thailand and New Zealand) who were helping South Vietnam left the war zone. The US stayed to help still.

WELCOME HOME

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: Welcoming or Housewarming
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: Vietnam Soldiers came home in late 1960s and early 1970s. To this day on March 29 is Vietnam Veterans Day.

ARGENT ORANGE

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: Defoliant or Herbicide
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: Agent Orange was used many times during the Vietnam War and was a very horrible chemical to come in contact with. To this day effects from the Agent Orange still happen to the survivors of the Vietnam War. Many died from this deadly chemical.

NAPALM

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: Bomb or Missile.
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: Napalm was also used many times during the Vietnam War by the United States. It burn and exploded many areas in Vietnam and killed many. Napalm explosion were huge.

SAIGON

  • Separate Vocabulary Term: Ho Chi Minh City
  • Historical Context or how it’s related to the Vietnam War: The fall of Saigon happen on April 30,1975. Also know as the Liberation of Saigon. The day North Vietnam forced South Vietnam to surrender and the end of the Vietnam War.
