FUR TRADE

AUTUMN

• Ojibwe were frequent visitors
• Relationships developed during construction
• Many goods were received
• Goods were on credit to be paid
• Goods needed to be paid back during trapping season

WINTER

• Men trapped beavers and other animals
• Women prepared furs and cooked for trading
• Voyageurs went to Ojibwe lodges
• They got beaver furs
• They traded and got other things

SPRING

• Moved to different trading centers
• Voyageurs hunted duck and netted fish
• Ojibwe repaired canoes
• Packed up beaver pelts and said goodbye to family
• Recived gifts

SUMMER

• Trading cycle ended with a rendezvous
• Traded lots of things at rendezvous
• Lots of people gather for this celebration
• After, they counted beaver pelts
• Then packed up and headed off for a long journey
